Fri. 31. [31 August 1894] Up at 4.35 and after a scanty breakfast said
goodbye to Frantz and with our host of the H¸tte who was an excellent
guide we went up to the top of the Solstein by a very steep path under
the cliff. Found Edelweiss, gentians and [space left blank]. Very
delightful up at the top with a keen wind blowing and all the world at
one's feet. Breakfasted there at 9 and then ran down the steep slope
to the admiration of my guide! Delightful path down. Reached Zirl at
12, caught a train to Innsbr¸ck and were home at 1.45. Bath and bed
were both rather nice. Began Swift's journal. [Pressed flower
attached to page.]
