Wed 9. [9 August 1899] Left Frankfurt [Frankfurt am Main] at 7.
Breakfasted at W¸rtzburg [W¸rzburg]. Charming journey along the
Main dotted with little towns. Changed at Steinach and got to
Rothenburg [Rothenburg ober der Tauber] at 1.15. At the Hirsch we
found Florence and his Ex waiting for us. Great joy. Spent the
afternoon walking about R. and photographing. Perfectly delicious.
We walked all round the walls. Lovely view over the Tauber valley
from my window. After tea Mr Chirol sketched Uncle Frank sat by him
and read, F and I sat on the bridge and looked at the town, while
Hugo climbed up the hill. After dinner played patiences with His Ex
and early to bed.
