Wed 13 [13 June 1900] Got to Akka ['Akko (Acre)] at 5 and went ashore with Dr C [Cropper]. The English hospital is on the opposite side of the Persian garden. Had some tea and ran through the streets back. Haifa about 8 and went ashore with Khoury. Tea in a Persian cafÈ. They told us there that Abbas Effendi was in Haifa. We went off to see his house and I paid him a visit. He was most kind and gracious. We talked of Mr Brown. Miss Keatley and her friend came on board here. We passed Athlit ['Atlit] near enough to photograph it. Jaffa [Tel Aviv-Yafo (Joppa)] at 4. Mr Hall and a kavass met us and took us up to the comfy Hotel du Parc where we found the Schmidts and the Post lunch.
