Rounton Grange Aug 15 Dearest Mother. Here are some pictures of Mary for you. I knew about the chair. We drove all over the garden in it yesterday after tea, to our immense satisfaction. I went to Neasham and really it was very nice. Lady L. made an excellent little speech. She also invited me to go to Wynyard on the 23rd so I said I wd go for a night. The Wrightsons were so charming, the girls looked so attractive and Guy's fiancée, whose acquaintance I made, is just such another. The show is nearly as big as ours but I thought their needle work wass much better than ours. Lady Chaytor was there and I made her acquaintance too but was not much attracted by her. She was rather shy however so I daresay she will improve on acquaintance. Yes, all right about the Chaloners on the 31st. I hope they will come. Do you realize that on the 3rd we shall be 4 extra women and only Sir Alfred to balance them all - Uncle Frank balances me you see! It's more than can be borne and I've written to Mr Cockerell and Mr du Cane and asked them to come on the 2nd.
My love to the Wards. Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude.

I hope you are having our enchanting weather
